Casey Obstfeld, LPCMH

Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health/Founder

Previous experience included working at a residential setting, on an inpatient unit, and at outpatient group practices. It was through my own experiences and through working with my clients I noticed limitations in services which ultimately led to founding Embodied Counseling and Wellness (ECW) in 2021.

I believe the therapeutic relationship can be one of the most powerful tools in the therapeutic process, especially when there is a history of childhood trauma, injuries, and hurt. I listen with patience, curiosity, compassion, and without judgment, hoping the client can feel safe enough to share their story and explore their feelings without worry or fear of judgement. In my experience, this can be the first step towards healing as one can begin to discover parts of themselves that offer protection, bravery, and safety. Helping empower my client in their journey towards healing and balance is something I am passionate about.

While I have experience working within a variety of settings and with individuals of all different ages, I primarily provide services to adolescents and adults.  I have a specialization in working with anxiety disorders and training in complex trauma and dissociative disorders.  My approach uses the Ego State Therapy Model (EST), which is an effective approach in treating complex trauma.  We all have internal voices and different states of self that guide and regulate our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often with complex trauma or dissociative disorders, one can experience inner conflict among parts. EST focuses on exploring and working with the different parts of our selves and can produce results and relief.

Over the next year, I plan to continue my training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga as well as begin training in Clinical Hypnosis. Clinical Hypnosis is often used in conjunction with EST to help access and explore states of self that one may not be aware of. This can help to increase awareness as well as assist in exploring solutions to a variety of problems or conflict.

In my free time I enjoy gardening, yoga, knitting, hiking, playing and listening to music, learning, and reading. I like to explore new parks, travel, and spend time with family, friends, and my dog Maizy.
