Reiki & Energy Healing

My Reiki Journey

My journey with Reiki began in 2015, during a particularly difficult season of my life. I was going through a divorce and experiencing a great deal of stress. I wasn’t sleeping well, was struggling with frequent headaches, and was simply trying to find my way through a challenging time.

Alongside therapy, someone suggested that I try Reiki. At the time, I had never heard of it, but I was open to exploring anything that might support me in my healing journey.

I still remember my first Reiki session. I felt more relaxed than I had in months—almost as if I were experiencing a sense of weightlessness. When I left the appointment, I felt lighter, calmer, and more clear-minded.

I continued receiving Reiki sessions about every three months for more than a year. Over time, I noticed meaningful changes in how I was feeling. I felt less anxious, my headaches had subsided, and I was sleeping more soundly. My experience with Reiki became an important part of my own journey toward feeling more grounded and connected to myself.

That experience inspired me to become a Reiki practitioner, and I have now been practicing Reiki for more than five years.

So, What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on or hands-above-the-body wellness practice that originated in Japan. The word Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy.” During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on or above different areas of the body. While Reiki can involve light touch, my practice is completely touch-free. Instead, I work with my hands held just above the body.

One of the simplest ways I describe Reiki is as an opportunity to pause, slow down, and allow yourself to simply be—without needing to accomplish anything or figure anything out. Reiki is not about fixing or changing you. It is a gentle invitation to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and create space for rest and restoration.

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, Reiki offers permission to simply be. It is a moment to quiet the noise, soften the body, settle the mind, and reconnect with the stillness within.

Whether you are beginning your spiritual journey or deepening an established wellness practice, Reiki can offer a beautiful space for reflection, restoration, and conscious connection.

The Benefits of Reiki

Chakras are traditionally described as energy centers throughout the body. In Reiki, they may be used as a framework for exploring areas of emotional, physical, and energetic well-being. Each chakra is associated with different qualities and aspects of our experience, such as grounding, connection, self-expression, intuition, and compassion. Reiki practitioners may gently focus on these areas during a session as an invitation to relax, reconnect, and restore a sense of balance.

Clients often seek Reiki to support:

  • Deep relaxation and a greater sense of calm

  • Stress reduction and relief from the demands of everyday life

  • Emotional renewal and a safe space for reflection

  • Inner connection and greater awareness of self

  • Balance and grounding during times of transition or change

  • Mindful presence and intentional self-care

  • Spiritual connection for those drawn to exploring their inner world
